Maximum Solar at the Heart of Urban Forests

September 18, 2013
2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

ICLEI Local Governments for Sustainability will present a free webinar on Urban Forest and Solar Energy entitled Maximum Solar at the Heart of Urban Forests as part of the U.S. Department of Energy SunShot Solar Outreach Partnership program.
Trees are green. So is Solar Energy. Both Urban forests and solar energy generate major environmental, economic, and social benefits. As the cost of solar energy continues to  decrease, the number of solar installations in urban environments is growing rapidly across the country. While residents appreciate their urban forests, solar photovoltaic systems lose their efficiency in shaded areas. This webinar will review the potential conflicts between urban forestry and solar energy, and recommend solutions that enable   communities to achieve maximum solar integration in the heart of urban forests.
Speakers include:

Chad Tudenggongbu, Renewables Program Officer, ICLEI Local Governments For Sustainability

Sara Davis, Program Manager, Office of the City Forester, Parks & Recreation, City and County of Denver

Daniel C. Staley, Principal, DCS Consulting Services

David Morley, Senior Research Associate, Planning Advisory Service Coordinator/Co-editor of Zoning Practice at American Planning Association
