Utility Ownership of Rooftop Solar PV: An Emerging Business Model for Municipal Utilities provides an overview of the issues and opportunities a municipal utility is likely to encounter in the development of a utility-owned rooftop solar program. Prepared by the NC Clean Energy Technology Center and Meister Consultants Group, the report describes business models and important considerations for designing a program, drawing on case studies from three existing utility programs.

This "Markets 101" report offers a high level overview of current solar installations, prices, and policies/regulations in the U.S. solar market. In response to requests for pricing information, this report includes pricing among publicly-available PPA price data, comparative energy costs, and installed cost per Watt. Beyond reporting basic facts and figures, this new report showcases SEPA's market analysis of factors driving current solar growth.

Going Solar in America: Demonstrating Rooftop Solar PV’s “Dollars & Cents” Value in America’s 50 Largest Cities

The hour-long session features NC Clean Energy Technology Center’s recently released Going Solar in America reports. Lead author Jim Kennerly from the center will discusses key findings of their reports, including results showing that financed solar is already at grid parity in 42 out of the largest 50 U.S. cities and that in 46 of the 50 cities, an investment in solar can perform better than the S & P 500. Jim also discusses what factors led some cities to rank higher than others and why financing is an important piece of the puzzle.
